Mission Accomplished

I’m proud to report that my self directed mission to throw my mother a 90th birthday party has been accomplished.

The older I get–and I’m not getting any younger–the harder it is for me to do things like this.  All of the planning and buying and gathering and phone calls and reservations and on and on makes me pretty anxious.  The more so when the event takes place 300 miles away.  Long distance  party planning is about as hard as long distance relationships.  Well, probably not but it sounds good.

It was a “medium size” party with about 30 people.  Everyone who said they would come, actually came, everyone had a good time, and not even a small disaster occurred.  Most of all Mom, who does not like being in the spotlight, loved it.  She didn’t stop beaming. And for days after she commented on what a great party it was.

And that’s what it was all about.  Having a party for Mom that she loved.

Happy Birthday, Mom!
