Good Bye Summer

It’s oh so sad to see the summer end, lamented John Denver.  And he was right.  Summer’s end is oh so sad.The end of long, hot days and short, warm nights. The end of staying up late and sleeping in. The end of hiking and camping and trips to the beach and summer vacations. The end of  daisies and lavender and dahlias.  The end of tomatoes ripening on the vine and the end of finding way over grown zucchini hiding in the garden.  Well, that last one could be a good thing.

Of course, technically summer still has another month on its run.  But we all know summer really ends when the kids head back to school. And that happens this week or next.

But it has been a glorious summer, here in the Pacific Northwest.  Lots of sun. lots of blue sky.  And the birth of my newest grandson.

Fabulous

Hey, It’s Good To Be Back Home Again

John Denver was right.  It’s good to be back home again.

It’s good to be back home and see hubby after some days.  It’s good t0 see the “farm”.  It’s good to pick a ripe tomato and bring in some summer squash from my garden.  It’s good to see the dog, even if he didn’t seem to really care.  It’s good to sit out on my deck at 10:00 at night and write this blog while listening to the owls calling to each other and watching the moon rise.  It’ll be good to sleep in my own bed and work in my own garden tomorrow.  It’ll be good to have lunch with a friend and pick up my next read that’s waiting for me at my library.

Yes, John, it’s good to be back home. But dang, I miss my grandson.

Sleep well, baby.  I love you.
